Big Ideas checklist

Take some simple steps to prepare your idea:

1. Join the library!

With a GM Library Card you can:

  • Borrow books
  • Get free computer use
  • Use the COBRA database
  • Find out about all the latest events and activities

4. Read all about it!

Check your library's business books collection. It's also worth looking at biographies, "Dummies" books, and journals for ideas and information.

For more specialist databases and support contact the Business & IP Centre Manchester in Central Library.

2. Start your research

The COBRA database is a great place to start if you're thinking of setting up a business.

Our Industry Guides are also useful and will give you lots of information about particular industries.

5. Thought about your Intellectual Property?

6. Want to "make" your idea?

Each GM library authority will soon have their own 3D printer! We'll be running some sessions soon.
You can also contact the Trafford FabLab (part of The Manufacturing Insitute).
There's more information about 3D printing on the Online Tools section.
