Oldham is a culturally diverse and vibrant community situated just outside Manchester on the edge of the Pennines. Once a major centre for the textile industries many of its majestic mill buildings are enjoying a new lease of life as locations for businesses, leisure facilities and apartment living.

The Reference and Information service is based at Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre. This award-winning building was opened in 2006 and offers an enhanced service to the people of Oldham and the wider regional and business communities.

Oldham Library runs a programme of business information sessions for people running or looking to start up a business in Oldham.

Books, newspapers and magazines, maps, directories and guides are also available, alongside 30 computers with full internet access.

The building is also home to Gallery Oldham, one of the most progressive galleries in the North West.
