The Borough of Rochdale is situated to the north-east of Manchester City centre offering the diverse lifestyle, traditions and economy of an area centred around four main towns and the rural countryside of the Pennine hills. With a population of 206,000 and a working population of 145,000, Rochdale's local economy still has a strong element of manufacturing and a growing service sector with information technology companies leading the way.
