The Borough of Tameside was created in 1974 as one of the ten Metropolitan Boroughs of Manchester and takes its name from the River Tame. The borough is comprised of nine towns: Ashton-under-Lyne, Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hyde, Longendale, Mossley and Stalybridge. It stretches from the edge of Manchester City Centre through to the Peak District. Tameside has good railway and motorway links making it ideally situated for easy access to anywhere in the region and beyond. Regeneration Tameside is a prospering society with enterprise and regeneration at the top of the agenda. There has recently been a large increase in new-business start-ups.
